Q16: Divide 30 by half and add 10 what do you get?

Answer: You don't divide by 2. You divide by 1/2 so when you divide 30 by 1/2 in other words you multiply 30 by the reciprocal of 1/2. That means 30 multiplied by 2/1 or just 2 to get 60 and then add 10 to get 70 :)

Q20: There is a rectangular shaped cake of arbitrary size. We cut a rectangular piece (any size or orientation) from the original cake. How would you cut the remaining cake into two equal halves in a straight cut of a knife?

Answer: Cut along the line joining the center of the bigger rectangle to that of the smaller rectangle.
Since any line passing through the center of a rectangle cuts it into equally sized halves, this line will cut both the rectangles equally, thus cutting equally the cake that was left when 1 rectangle was "subtracted" from the other.
